Schon von Kindesbeinen an faszinierten mich Flugzeuge.

Muß wohl eine erbliche Vorbelastung sein, denn mein Vater war dereinst Pilot, vor vielen, vielen Jahren, in so einem lärmenden Ding mit dem man sich mehrere tausend Meter vom Himmel herunterstürzte und dennoch versuchte, mit heiler Haut davonzukommen.

Jedenfalls war ich hellauf begeistert, als er eines Tages einen kleinen Bausatz mit nach Hause brachte. Ich wußte damals schon, daß diese bunten Bildchen, die dem Bausatz beilagen, wasserlösliche Trägerfolien waren. Mein alter Herr allerdings nahm ungerührt eine Schere in die Hand und schnitt das Motiv aus, um das Ganze dann mitsamt dem Papier mittels Klebstoff am Modell zu befestigen.

Dieses Schlüsselerlebnis hat mich so geprägt, daß ich fortan selbst Modelle baute. Anfangs natürlich mit weniger Geschick und Erfolg, aber man lernt ja dazu. Mittlerweile habe ich es geschafft, meine Modelle so fertigzustellen, daß man sie auch ansehen kann. Und die Sammlung wächst.

Daß es fast ausschließlich Flugzeugmodelle des 2.WK sind, manifestiert nicht meine politische Meinung, sondern liegt an meinem verstorbenen Vater, siehe oben...











Since I was a little boy, planes were fascinating to me.

This must be a hereditary condition, basing on the fact, that my father has been fighter-pilot so many, many years ago, in such a noisy thing called Stuka, plunging out of the sky deep towards the enemy`s ground, trying to get back healthy inspite of all.

I was filled with enthusiasm that one day, my father took a scale-kit home. Just then I already knew, that these little pictures added to the kit, were water-loosening decals. But my dad took a pair of scissors, did really cut them off and applied them with the paper, smearing glue beneath it.

This day formed my mind, so I decided to build scale-models by my own. In the beginning, I was not that skilful, neither that successful, but I was learning. Today I am experienced, and I am proud of my ability. Look at and judge of it by yourself. And the collection keeps growing.

That I prefer to build scale-models of the WW2-area has nothing to do with my political opinion, but is the property of my deceased father, as can be read some paragraphes above...
